OK, we’re supposed to be in vacation mode, but we had also planned to tell you all about the last couple of weekends, including the sprawling Hudson Valley Wine Festival and the RETREAT we co-hosted with art school girl, Amy Rowan. However, day jobs and an unfortunate incident involving a cocktail tray persuaded us to opt instead for recuperation. Luckily, one of the “campers” – Jessica Marquez of miniaturerhino – has two lovely posts (retreat, escape from brooklyn) about the “art camp” up on her blog, capturing the spirit, the light and the frogs (yep!) of the event. We had an absolutely delightful, inspiring time meeting everyone and learning a new skill or two. Sun Young Park even showed us the therapeutic merits of gouging wood in a reverse gouache workshop. This cabin was filled with talent! Thanks to all of the amazing participants, a lot of creative ideas are incubating. We’ll be back up and at ‘em soon!
You know we like our classes paired with cocktails and canapes, so if you’d like some of the recipes from the weekend, here’s a rundown with links: welcome cocktail – cardamom moscow mule (we added bitters), summer succotash, cucumber and avocado soup with mango salsa, coconut and cacao date bites
